The Golden Beaches

There are 36 beaches distributed all along the Bays of Huatulco, each with its own singularities and characteristics. The following is a short list of some of the more popular ones:

Ventura Beach – Located in Tangolunda Bay, this is a beautiful beach with sparkling emerald green waters, perfect for kayaking and diving.

Esperanza Beach – Located in the middle of the Chahue Bay, in an exotic jungle, this is the perfect place to surf or windsurf, due to its strong waves and shallow waters.

Cacaluta Beach – This beach is 0.62 miles long, and is located in the southwest of Santa Cruz Bay. Popular activities include surfing and windsurfing, as well.

Zicatela Beach – This cosmopolitan beach has several hotels and restaurants that are attended by people from all around the world. There is a surfing tournament held every November, as well as contests, rallies, marathons and many other cultural events.

La Bocana Beach – This beautiful beach is also the preferred site of international surfers.


Attractions in Huatulco

Zipolite – This is one of the most important and well-known beaches of Oaxaca, found only 40 km away from Huatulco. It is known for being one of the main nudist beaches of the country. Swimming here is not recommended due to the undertow.

Mazunte – This is a beautiful beach where the National Mexican Turtle Center is located, a natural reserve where turtles are protected and bred, and has many branches all along the coasts of Oaxaca. This beach is also a favorite for those who like nudism and are nature lovers.

Puerto Angelito – This is an ideal area to go snorkeling and diving because of its clear, calm waters. It is located just 30 minutes away from Huatulco, and offers tasty seafood and other delicious dishes.

 

 

 



The Bays

Each of the nine bays of Huatulco has their own particular charm. They can't be reached by land, so you have to rent a boat to get there, definitely worth trip explore them on any of the tours in Huatulco. Below is a list of the most important ones:

Chachacual Bay ?¢??? Here you can snorkel perfectly at any of its two beaches: Chachacual and La India. This bay is part of the National Park, which makes it an interesting place for nature watching. The only access is by boat, which leave periodically from the Santa Cruz Beach.

Tangolunda Bay – This is the most important Bay of Huatulco. It includes important hotels, stores, shops, a professional golf course and five beaches: Tangolunda, Ventura, Manzanillo, Tornillo and Rincon Sabroso. Its sparkling emerald green waters are the perfect place to dive, windsurf, and kayak, as well as for the use of motorized water vehicles.

La Entrega Bay – It has a beach and a reef with the same name, being one of the best places to snorkel and go diving.

Cacaluta Bay – This heart-shaped bay is located behind an island, which provides great wind cover. There are two beaches: Cacaluta and Arroyo. The only access available is by the boats which leave from Santa Cruz Beach. It is an ideal place to rest and relax with the view of its fabulous vegetation and romantic scenery.

Chahue Bay – This area has three beaches: Chahue, Esperanza and Tejon. They are surrounded by beautiful rocky formations such as El Bufadero, which is below the lighthouse of the same name. This bay is located in Huatulco, between La Entrega Beach and Playa Organo Beach, where there is an old shipwreck off coast, which makes for an interesting diving destination.


National Park Bays of Huatulco

This is a large ecological park located in the Municipality of Santa Maria de Huatulco, where an incredible amount of flora and fauna are carefully studied and monitored. The shores of this park are also visited by dolphins, turtles and whales, each in their respective seasons.
