Well, Mazatlan have lots to do that you will need more than a month to do the most important activities so don't try to do it all, do what you and your family will enjoy the most.
You will found something special for everyone at Mazatlan. The principal Mazatlan event is the Carnaval, it's developed between February and march and is something that all the family will enjoy, the dance, the Caribbean music, the dance schools parade at night is so colorful with costumes and the lights, that you cannot forget you camera!
Rest and lay at the Beach enjoying the sun and the sea sound very good but, how can you say no to a Bay Trip on a Banana with your new friends, or how about fly away at a parachute taking nice bay photos. Something more bold? Take a surf board and catch the waves, someone says that these activities take years of your face since you take the board so come and get younger!
Its magnificent waves let Mazatlan be the host of International Surf tournaments. The "Playa Bruja" Beach is the place to this kind of activities, located at the north of the city.
Another Mazatlan water activities are the snorkel tour at Isla Pajaros (bird island), that included snorkel, Kayak trip, rare birds observation and lunch. The Isla Pajaros is an Animal Natural Shelter and have beautiful Lansing. It's a Family tour so don't leave anyone at the hotel.
Fishing lover? Mazatlan is the best place on Earth to catch a pez espada, mahi-mahi fish, Tuna, and wahoo fish. Pez vela Fishing Season is from March to December and blue marlin from December till April.
Also you will find next town visit tours. You will visit Concordia and Copala, little towns that keeps the colonial look where you will learn a lot of the history of this area. Walk around at the tight streets, enjoy a nice coffee and buy a travel souvenir for the family.
What to know more about Mazatlan? Mazatlan, a modern city with colonial touches everywhere is divided in three parts: Old Mazatlan, New Mazatlan and Zona Dorada (Golden Zone) where the tourist area is.
Old Mazatlan Tour, you could take a tour with a Group or make it by you is not that hard, just take a "Pulmonia" and ask to be taken to "Viejo Mazatlan". Old Mazatlan is the old area, downtown area, where locals go to the market, the banks and have colorful colonial buildings. You will breathe the history of Mazatlan at every step that you made. The more important areas to visit are "El Mercado municipal" (public Market), the Cathedral (Yellow painted), shells museum, handicrafts and souvenirs stores and Machado Plaza, where you would enjoy a nice Mexican meal, a coffee or a drink at its local places. The views that you will have in this area you will not found at the tourist zone. Come and enjoy the Old Mazatlan, the real one.

Mazatlan also is host of Fishing Tournaments, Tennis Tournament and has an every year more important, annual Art Festival. The "Festival de las Artes de Sinaloa" and the "Billfishing Classic marina el cid" Fishing tournament, are a sample of these specials events that you will enjoy at Mazatlan.
