Nightlife in Puerto Vallarta is lively with many bars, discos and nightclubs. It gets wild especially during the major Mexican holidays and the US college Spring Break.

Downtown Puerto Vallarta is the main nightlife area in the city, with plenty of bars and clubs located along El Malecon, where visitors can find The Zoo with an excellent ambiance and great techno, dance, latin, reggae and pop music.

The Hard Rock Cafe is also located in the area, which has live rock music and dancing every night from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Memorabilia here includes pictures from Linda and Paul McCartney, a Ringo Starr suit, and guitars from Bo Diddley, Carlos Santana and Sting. Last but not least, it is Senor Frog's nightclub with lively atmosphere, especially on the weekends.

Puerto Vallarta has a very relaxed and congenial gay scene. Club Paco Paco is a gay disco and bar located in south of Puerto Vallarta's downtown, also known as Paco's Ranch, which has been the most famous and largest gay club in town for years.

Trendy Clubs

There are also some nightlife spots in the north of the city, where the hottest nightspot is Christine, where the laser light show and pulsating music keep the crowds boogying until the wee hours of the morning. Another good option is Collage, Puerto Vallarta's largest entertainment center, with a bowling alley, pool tables, snack bar, video games, and a large disco bar which features pop, rock and salsa music.

For those who appreciate a less raucous form of nighttime entertainment, the Marina Vallarta section of town may be more suitable, where dozens of bars and jazz clubs offer a more subdued repose from the day's activities.

Day or night, Puerto Vallarta always offers plenty of options for everybody.
